Nepal Hydropower Association was established in August 1999, initially as a national committee of International Hydropower Association which later transitioned to an independent organization.
With 192 individual members and 32 corporate members, NHA cooperates with the International Hydropower Association (IHA) and other national and international organizations to work towards its objectives.
With approximately 1.45 GW of installed capacity, hydropower provides almost all of Nepal’s domestic electricity generation on the grid. The economy is experiencing rising power demand, with forecasts that it will more than double by 2025 compared to 2018, making clear the need for new capacity.
Organize/host training workshop, seminar, talk program and discussion forum.
Establish as a hydropower resource center and information dissemination including publication of hydropower database for Nepal.
Policy advocacy for sustainable development of hydropower sector.Increasing awareness of the role of hydropower as renewable energy source for sustainable development.
Conduct studies on rural electrification, climate change, cross border power trade, transmission and distribution and other related issues.
Establish network of national and international organization for collaboration and exchanges.
